Salad dressings

March 2, 2009
Store bought salad dressings should be avoided at all costs. Dress your salads with olive oil and vinegar, or olive oil and lemon juice vinaigrettes. If you prefer a creamier dressing an alternative to higher calorie creamy dressings is yogurt sauce. It's fantastic on salads. To make it take a small yogurt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, one or two cloves of garlic chopped finely, and the tiniest dash of salt.(make sure not to over salt) Mix it all together well and pour over your salad.

Healthier versions of favorite foods

February 17, 2009
Have healthier versions of favorite foods. Tuna salad for instance. The perfect healthier version is easy to make. Take your tuna drain it well. Add 1/2  of an onion chopped or diced. Add 1/2 of a tomato diced. Add the juice of 1/2 a lemon. Add 1/4 cup olive oil.  Season with salt and pepper. Toss well. Serve on whole wheat preferably. Chocloate lovers

February 17, 2009
Dark chocolate has some great health benefits. It's packed with antioxidants that can be useful when trying to lose weight. The only kind to have though, is the dark chocolate. The semi sweet is fine. Cocoa powder is great too.  Don't have milk chocolates or things like highly processed chocolate bars.  Go for the pure dark sweet chocolate. It'll satisfy your cravings and you get to reap  the health benefits.

Sugar is not the culprit

February 6, 2009
Sugar is not as fattening as you may think it is. Sugar has some calories. Sugar has 0 fat calories though. The same is true of sugar.  It's the butters and the creams that usually accompany the sugar. You don't need to avoid sweets and desserts like the plague because of sugar.
It's completely unnecessary and it's usually what can drive you away from a weight loss plan....

Fruits

February 1, 2009
Fruits are a great way to add variety to your diet. They're a great source of nutrients and make fantastic snacks.
Whip up great desserts with them and replace higher calorie deserts that lack nutrients.
Fresh fruit tarts and pies are more nutritious, lower in calories and just as satisfying as cakes with icings
and custards.

How to start

February 1, 2009
1. Assess. How much weight do you really need to lose?

2. Prioritize. How important is it to you?

3. Plan a course of action. Plan your menus and meals for the week or month.
Even if you veer a little off course, you'll find yourself staying within your original guidelines.

4. Stick with it. All changes take time. Don't get discouraged after a week and abandon your course of action.

Welcome to the blog

" Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results."  Albert Einstein

If you've been trying to lose weight and diet and exercise haven't been working for you
perhaps you should try a different approach. Most methods of losing weight are short term,
as are their results. Diets, weight loss pills, even some exercise routines are things most
people do temporarily to lose weight and can't wait to stop doing them. The results are minimal
and fleeting. Most people t...
